What are the best badminton racket brands? or simply what are the best badminton brands for all your needs? That’s the question I intend to answer in this article. I’ll be looking into the history of each company along with what each company has to offer in their product ranges.

Some brands do everything from rackets, shuttlecocks, nets and clothing, whilst other focus on one or two.

I’m going to take a look some of the badminton brands you may know and several you aren’t as familiar with. That way you can make a more informed decision next time you’re choosing a new racket, footwear or other badminton equipment!

What Are The Best Badminton Racket Brands?

Let’s take a closer look at each of the eleven badminton brands listed above. Some of these you will know and some you might not depending on the part of the world you live in.

Yonex

One of if not the biggest name in badminton. If you follow the professional side of the sport you can’t have failed to notice the prominence Yonex has within it. Yonex badminton rackets are some of the very best and are used by many of the top players.

Professional players sponsored by Yonex, and therefore use their rackets include, Viktor Axelsen (Denmark), Akane Yamaguchi (Japan), An Se Young (Korea), Lakshya Sen (India), Carolina Marin (Spain), Michelle Li (Canada) and Delphine Delrue (France) to name just a few.

The Japanese company was founded in 1946 but it was only in 1957 they began to manufacture badminton rackets. Yonex has and still is at the forefront of driving the sport forward with the use of the latest technology and materials.

Yonex are also one of the sport’s biggest sponsors. In fact they sponsor many tournaments. Due to the popularity of the Yonex there are plenty of counterfeit Yonex badminton rackets floating around so buyer beware.

Victor

The other big name when it comes to badminton equipment has to be Victor. The Taiwanese company was founded in 1968 and their products are now available in more than 60 countries spanning some five continents.

Victor has really come to the forefront of the sport not only producing excellent equipment, especially on the badminton racket side but they also sponsor many of the tournaments.

Ashaway

Ashaway is an American company founded all the way back in 1824. They started off manufacturing fishing line. However in 1949 they began making racket strings. Skip forward to 2009, and the company introduced the ZyWeave core technology. This was believed to be the thinnest badminton string ever produced.

The Phantom Helix which is rated as a medium stiff flex, with a well balanced head. The weight comes in at 85g. The Wilson Sporting Goods Company aka Wilson is a manufacturer of various sports equipment including badminton. They are based in Chicago, Illinois, USA. However they have been owned by the Finnish group Amer Sports since 1989.

The Chinese brand was founded in 1989 by Li Ning, a former Olympic gymnast. It provides various sporting goods including clothing, footwear and of course badminton rackets .

Founded in 1938 by Jack Oliver in Adelaide, Australia, the Oliver Racket Company began as a tennis and squash racket producer. Oliver Badminton has now established itself as a worldwide brand with Europe and the UK, proving to be a key market for its badminton rackets and supplies.

Oliver split their badminton racket offerings into to categories, Professional and Club. Their professional rackets, typically start at around the £100 price point, and includes the following ranges:

This German / British brand may not be the best known of all the racket makers. It was actually formed from a merger between two companies. Former British badminton player Derek Talbot formed his company following his retirement from the sport. However the company was taken over during the nineties by Schildkröt Sportarticles.

Meanwhile The Torro Company started off life in Hamburg in Germany during the eighties. However by 1992 the Talbot and Torro companies merged becoming the Talbot-Torro brand we see today.

The Isoforce and Arrowspeed are considered to be the more serious or pro ranges. These typically retail in the region of £30 – £70.

One of the lesser known brands certainly in Europe would be the Malaysian company Felet. They manufacture everything from rackets, shuttlecocks, clothing, footwear and bags to string machines.

You may have heard of many of these brands with most easily obtainable in the UK and worldwide. A few of them are only available in certain regions of the world which is a shame.
